Perth and Kinross Council Education and Children’s Services have established a framework and guidance for all early years centres and schools designed to support the development and implementation of Curriculum for Excellence called Creating a Curriculum for Excellence.

It consists of 5 key components covering the following:

  • An over-arching 3-18 Curriculum Framework
  • Guidance on Effective Learning and Teaching
  • Guidance on Enterprise and Vocational Education
  • Guidance on Assessment 3-18
  • An outline 3 year development plan.

All of the above papers set out roles and responsibilities, within clear timescales, for the education department and for schools in taking this work forward.

The 3 year plan gives all establishments a clear focus for their improvement plans from 2008 until 2011 in the areas of curriculum, learning and teaching, assessment, planning, recording and reporting, leadership, attainment and achievement and communication with parents and the wider community. An integral part of this plan is our strategy to roll out Journey to Excellence Part 5.
